More than a decade after the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, Phang-Nga's touristy areas feel pretty much back to normal. There's a tangible sense of progress, especially around Khao Lak, which has surpassed all prior expectations of development. Many fishing communities, however, have had their way of life changed forever, either by the loss of key family members, the destruction of fishing equipment or being forced to relocate inland.
